Safety & Environmental compliance

As a leading producer in the Marcellus and Utica shales with record-breaking exploration and production programs, the Rice Energy team takes its license to operate very seriously. Our commitment to the safety of our people and the environment
is at the core of everything we do. The health and welfare of our employees, contractors and communities depends on it.

In order to minimize the impact of our operations in the communities in which we operate, Rice Energy commits to several best-practices and is proud to lead the way with new and improved industry standards for addressing landowner concerns
like traffic.

How we address traffic:

Rice Energy Traffic Enforcement: Rice Energy self-polices our employees and contractors driving to and from site locations to ensure that they are operating safely and obeying posted speed limits. If a driver is caught speeding
or caught driving on a road where industry vehicles are prohibited, Rice Energy issues a citation to that person. A second citation is grounds for being banned from Rice Energy worksites for life.

Water Pipelines to Reduce Truck Traffic: By investing in state-of-the-art water pipelines capable of addressing the water needs of our completions operations, Rice Energy is able to reduce the amount of truck traffic in our
communities by approximately 2,000 truckloads per well.

Our on-site safety:

In-Field Safety Representatives 24/7: Rice Energy has trained safety representatives in the field 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure the safety of our operations.

Protecting the environment:

Water Recycling – Rice Energy recycles over 80 percent of its flow back water.

Well Pad Lining and Mats – Rice Energy uses a unique system of liners and mats to form a protective “tray” on every well pad that can be easily cleaned and maintained throughout the life of the operation.
